Building a nation Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategy - LGBTIQ+ Health Australia

Building a national Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategy

LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) and the Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer (ACPCC) are working together to help the Australian Government build a strategy to eliminate cervical cancer in Australia by 2035.

The overarching vision is to achieve elimination for all people with a cervix across the diverse communities we have in Australia, including LGBTIQ+ communities. No one should be left behind.

The National Elimination Project Team invites LGBTIQ+ communities to join the consultation.

LHA is a member of the advisory body overseeing the development of Australia’s first ever strategy to eliminate a cancer. LHA and its member organisations strongly encourage people who identify as LGBTIQ+ to join in the consultation. Everyone with a cervix can help shape Australia’s first ever plan to eliminate a cancer. It is important that LGBTIQ+ people’s experiences and needs are heard.

Consultation is now open and will end on 29 July.

If you have an experience you want to share about your experience of accessing the HPV vaccine, screening and/or treatment services, we would like to hear from you.

You can contribute your voice to the National Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategy via:

  • Online Survey – open until 29 July
  • A series of focus group sessions for trans men, non-binary people and LGBQ women

Online survey

The online survey is open until 29 July 2022 and takes about 5 minutes to complete. If you have ‘lived experience’ with cervical cancer and are willing to complete an extended survey, it will take an additional 5-10 minutes.

Your contribution is extremely valued and important!
